Equilore is now listed on Oxfordshire County Council’s Family Information Directory, and hoping to welcome any children and families who feel they might benefits from equine therapy in the future.

Working with horses provides an alternative way to help process and make sense of what we are going through. No previous experience with horses necessary and there is no riding involved.

The sessions are run by a highly trained and experienced practitioner who is a chartered Psychologist with a MSc in Neuropsychology, PhD in Clinical Neuroscience and a Diploma in Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy.

We work with the horses from the ground (i.e. no riding) on principles of mindfulness and acceptance, but will also run skills-based sessions addressing assertivess, focus, taking responsibility, empathy, calmness (yes calmness is a skill!), planning, communication and engagement. We provide a safe and profesional service where people can grow and enhance their self-awareness, confidence, emotional wellbeing and acquire new skills.

Presentation on Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy

Chartered Psychologist Loes Koorenhof, PhD, will be giving a presentation about why horses are such great therapy tools.

She will answer questions like What is Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy? Why work with horses? and many more!

The presentation will take place at The Hummingbird Centre, Launton on the 6th of March and the 5th of April at 11.30 am.

This wonderful charity provides cancer support and a wide variety of therapies.
